See what some of our SANE Nurses say about working with RSI

I have been providing forensic nursing care for four years, in the last year I started working for RSI. Immediately after meeting Holly and Makenzy, I knew I wanted to work with them. RSI has improved sexual assault services so greatly for the hospitals that we serve, 24/7 coverage is guaranteed; when I met them they said that 'not having coverage is not an option'. The services they provide are so very vital to the communities in which we serve; they have helped to ensure that quality care is available whenever it is needed.

I have been a SANE with RSI for 4 years. Having relocated from another state I was instantly drawn to the program and services RSI has established in the Portland metro areas. Our team offers exams for victims in many setting types to decrease barriers for patients to report and increase the skill of those performing exams. RSI not only works closely with facilities to establish a partnership but also works closely with community organizations and law enforcement. As a SANE with RSI I always have support and ongoing trainings to ensure I am offering the best care possible.

RSI has been providing 24/7 adult SANE response to LEMC since 2011. More recently, adolescents have been included. As an ED physician, I believe this service has been of great benefit to the patient, the Emergency Department and ED staff. Victims are not waiting behind higher acuity ED patients or being rushed through an exam. In addition to the evaluation and evidence collection, the SANE nurse completes the documentation. This service has streamlined the ED evaluation of patients of sexual assault.
